2017 Firing with Jon Brinley

DSCF0464

This is one of the more interesting pieces from this last firing with Jon. You may notice a crack near the middle. I dropped the box it was in on concrete after I  brought it home. Most of my pieces would have withstood the shock but this one was thin where it hit. The clay body was an approximate to some of my mixtures from Westville days, and the slips, glazes, and washes are Jon’s. Jon has a great wood burning salt kiln that he fires relatively fast. His work can be seen at: facebook.com/people/Jon-Brinley.

Above are some of my other pieces fresh from the kiln and this one before it was cracked.
